"Those who cast the votes decide nothing.
Those who count the votes decide everything."
- Josef Stalin
Whether you vote or not, this is more true than we really want to admit. There has been so much voter fraud in America the past several voting cycles that its getting out of hand.
In Atlantic City officials were caught disposing of mailed in ballots and creating new ballots with whom the counters wanted to win. In Kentucky there were vote counters not allowing people to hand count the votes, instead saying this is the vote count, trust us, and you cant look at the ballots. In several countries now like Ireland, Germany and the Netherlands, they are scrapping the electronic voting boxes and saying they are not constitutional and fair. Much of the voting fraud in the US (naturally? mysteriously?) circles around mafia connected cities like NYC, Cleveland, Atlantic City, Chicago and Las Vegas.
So how do we fix this? What ARE the solutions? Im not sure, but one great idea that is fast growing is by Mitch Trachtenberg and that is scanning in EACH ballot and making the scanned images available to anyone and everyone. There are no names, so no privacy concerns. Anyone can view the ballots themselves. There can be no voting fraud. Put the counting into the hands of the people, not big private firms. Mitch has created a free open source program for ballot scanning and counting. It has already been successfully tested in Humboldt County here in California (where Diebold tabulations were de-certified!).

* There is some BS internet talk that Stalin never said this. The truth is, the quote above is a loose translation of what he said. Here is the original text Stalin is quoted as saying in 1923...
In English...
I consider it completely unimportant who in the party will vote, or how; but what is extraordinarily important is this—who will count the votes, and how.
In Russian...
Я считаю, что совершенно неважно, кто и как будет в партии голосовать; но вот что чрезвычайно важно, это - кто и как будет считать голоса.
i'm still waiting for internet voting. i'm sure it's possible to implement securely, i mean, we trust our money on the internet, why not our votes?
