Another great feature about joining Ubuntu Membership is the ability to cloak or hide your IP address in IRC chat. This not only gives you a level of anonymity, it also helps verify your Ubuntu Membership status to other IRC users.
Instead of listing your full IP address your information on IRC would look something like "ubuntu/member/yournickname".
It should go without saying that while hiding your IP address may keep out some hackers, you still must honour and abide by the Ubuntu Code of Conduct and any rules of your local channels that you visit.
